Marés House

Casa Marés, located in Llucmajor, in the southern part of the island, is set on a narrow plot between party walls, maximizing space efficiency and ensuring privacy from the street by orienting itself towards the rear patio, which connects the home to nature and the outdoors.

The project is developed over two floors. On the ground floor, an open-plan space serves the daytime living areas, connected to a second volume that houses the guest bedroom. The union of both sections creates a pergola-covered outdoor porch, serving the pool area. On the upper floor, the nighttime area includes three bedrooms and a shared outdoor terrace. The volumes incorporate both flat and sloped roofs, adding a modern touch to the traditional architecture of the region.

The result is a home designed to embrace itself, creating a hidden oasis, shielding its residents from the exterior, and evoking a sense of peace and disconnection.

Throughout the design process, references to classic Mediterranean homes are continuously present, with the use of Marés stone and Mediterranean tones, contrasting with traditional Mallorcan wooden shutters.
